I saw a report by Gary Tuchman on CNNj yesterday during Anderson Cooper’s “360″ that just floored me with how devastating clear it makes it that some (significant?) portion of American “Christians” are either complete idiots or totally out of their minds.
You may have already heard about this. Here is a link to Tuchman’s “Behind […]

“I believe in UFOs.”

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura made a bit of news this week at an official press conference when he announced that he believes in the existence of UFOs.
This isn’t all that surprising when you think about it, though.
After all, back in September he had a “Close Encounter of the Third Kind” of his very […]

Today in the Anals* of Religious History…

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

This Muhammed loves you:

The other one, the towelhead, says, “GO TO HELL, INFIDEL!”
Well, at least his submissive, peace-loving (after all, Islam is a religion of peace, right?) followers say that.
This kind of silliness is a round-about hint at the answer, just in case you’re ever on a quiz show or playing Trivial Pursuit with friends, […]

America won’t elect a non-Christian, says Romney

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Well, it will have if it elects Romney, no?
Why does everyone afford the Mormons the mantle of Christian “respectability” (cough cough)? MORMONS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS. (”Christians” aren’t really Christians, either, but the stick for beating that one is long broken.) What’s so hard to understand about this? All you have to do is look—just a […]

My hand’s over my mouth

Friday, November 9th, 2007

I just heard on CNNj about the latest Obama “hand over heart?” BULLSHIT.
My GAWD, is this the kind of STUPID SHIT the coming election is going to be about? Hillary’s boobs and Barack’s loyalty? I think I’ll just unplug the TV for the next year and fire up iTunes instead.
“A people gets….”

Water + Board = Torture

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Especially in the context of cinematic “entertainment” featuring just postpubescent males running around half-nekkid and saying things like “Surf’s up, dudes!”
I’m sorry, you can consider me weak if you want, but all it would take is the mere threat of being made to watch something like that and I’d blab every secret I’ve ever heard […]

Palestinians less than pleased with Rice

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

According to news sources, the Palestinian government is less than pleased with last week’s visit of U.S. Secretary of State Condescenza (or something like that…oh, hell, “Condi”) Rice. While decorum was maintained and everything was smiles and pleasantries during the photo ops, officials were a bit more frank with their opinions afterwards.

Palestinian minister Dr Salaam […]

Hill’s got tits!

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

No shit.
Like, duh? I mean, hello…she is a woman, and I’ve never heard the phrase “double mastectomy” used in reference to her, and since the things usually tend to travel in pairs (with a nod there to Woody Allen), it only stands to reason that Hillary Clinton has breasts and therefore the potential for…oh my […]

Did Jesus’ shit stink?

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

What about Muhammed’s? Or Buddha’s?
Just something that occurred to me yesterday morning while listening to CNN report on the religious right attempts to make the U.S. a “Christian” nation.
This morning they were on about the Obama/Romney “sex ed in kindergarten” blow. Seems Romney is being a bit dishonest in the whole thing…but what can you […]

A Message to U.S. Hindus:

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Just a reminder from the “Good Book” of the “nice” people among whom you have chosen to dwell:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs,
neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet,
and turn again and rend you.
I just saw on CNNj a quick clip about the heckling of the […]

Falwell well fallen

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

And good riddance.
Hopefully he didn’t harbor any secret doubts. Reportedly those final few seconds can be quite traumatic as the last brain cells die and the mind manufactures fantasms.
Even though I think he was a despicable person, I’m not above hoping he saw himself going into the light.
Before the void and oblivion swallowed him.

Before Republican or Democrat, American

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I listened to a Larry King interview with George Tenet on CNN this morning. At one point, Tenet said something to the effect that he had never thought of himself as a Republican or Democrat, that before everything else he thought of himself as an American.
It’s a pity more politicians don’t get that, no?

From his cold, dead hands?

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

OK…now how did that go again…guns don’t kill people?
I wonder if Ole Chuck and the NRA are already booking venues in Blacksburg for their next convention.
From the L.A. Times website:
A convocation, expected to be attended by President Bush, was scheduled for 2 p.m. Bush, who has received condolence calls from foreign leaders, today ordered U.S. […]

Bone boxes of Jesus (and family)

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Oh God, more bullshit. It’s all they can talk about on CNN this morning.
My POV: Jesus (< Joshua) and Mary (< Miriam) and Joseph and Judah were EXTREMELY common names. Who knows how many Joshua-son-of-Josephs married Marys (Maries?) and had little Judahs (Judas?!) in the Roman Palestine over the years. This is just silly. There […]

Man behind the wheel

Saturday, December 9th, 2006

CNN has been covering the Kim family tragedy in Oregon all morning.
Very sad, but I can’t help but wonder, among all the other questions, what role, if any, “male motor machismo” played in causing this one.
